There was broad consensus on the importance of carbon farming during the network meeting of PPS Carbon Farming and MARVIC, but scaling up is currently constrained by monitoring, report, and verification (MRV) complexity, high costs, data-related issues, policy uncertainty and an immature market. Trust, simplicity, transparency and public support are key prerequisites for further development.

The European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) arrange for the second conference on Earth Observation for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) of Carbon Removals.

The European Carbon Farming Summit is a leading meeting point for scientists, policymakers, and interested members of carbon farming and soil management communities.

A follow-up has been organized to the public private partnership 'PPS Carbon Farming' meeting that took place earlier this year in January. On Thursday, October 17th, a second meeting was held in collaboration with the "Verdienen met Carbon Farming" project by ZLTO ("Zuidelijke Land- en Tuinbouworganisatie" or Southern Agriculture and Horticulture Organization"), to exchange experiences on current carbon farming pilots in practice.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, a network meeting was organized by the Public private partnership (PPP) Carbon Farming to exchange experiences regarding current carbon farming pilots in practice. Various parties were invited; from provinces to consultancy firms and chain parties. Everyone had the opportunity to elaborate on their own initiatives. Project leader of PPP Carbon Farming, Jennie van der Kolk, kicked off the afternoon with a brief presentation on carbon farming and the current state of affairs, including how payments in the Netherlands and Europe can vary depending on the market in which carbon farming is valorized.

In August PPS Carbon Farming will hold a Masterclass at the Wageningen Soil Conference. This masterclass is held on the 30th of August and and will extend the focus on the potential of carbon sequestration methods to
reviewing and discussing enabling conditions and implications and benefits for land-users and
funders.
